Griswold UpBeat Community Team

Annual action plans are developed to enhance the school climate and promote positive self-esteem in the children. Parents are encouraged to get involved. If you are interested, please call the Griswold School office at 828-6336. The Griswold UpBeat Community Team of parents have organized the following activities: Griswold Goes Golden, Holiday Collections for Senior Citizens and Children, Project Pulse, Bicycle Safety Programs, Pasta Night, Call It Courage, and awarded two scholarships to Berlin High Seniors who formerly attended Griswold and are enrolled in an institution for continued learning.

Highlights The Griswold Upbeat Team Continues to have fun and successful years thanks to the team members as well as the Griswold families who supported our events throughout the years. Here are some activities sponsored by the Upbeat Team. GRISWOLD GOES GOLDEN HOLIDAY COLLECTIONS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS BICYCLE SAFETY PROGRAMS FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT - Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory SUB-NIGHT - PASTA NIGHT- To benefit Berlin High School Scholarship fund, KIDS ON THE BLOCK PUPPET SHOW - Show was performed for grades K and 1 by our Griswold Upbeat team of puppeteers! Skits performed included, Stranger Danger, Emergency Numbers, and Secret Password. A very special thanks to the parents, teachers, staff, children and peer leaders of Griswold School who helped us accomplish all our goals.

UPBEAT MISSION Berlin UpBeat is a school and community early intervention and prevention program. Our goal is to encourage the youth of Berlin to avoid the dangers of drugs and alcohol, to develop sound decision making skills and to provide opportunities for positive community involvement.

UPBEAT BACKGROUND Begun in 1988, UpBeat plans and implements a wide variety of activities, programs and training workshops for both adults and you throughout the year. Teams of teachers, parents, police, community members, senior citizens and students are active with UpBeat in all of the schools and throughout the community. All of the individuals involved, volunteer their time to provide programs which meet the changing needs of the community and our young people.
