Message from Ms. Gjerpen
September 2008
Dear Griswold Families,
Welcome to the 2008 – 2009 school year. We are off to an exciting start and look forward to working with you this year.
This website, presently a work in progress, is designed to help you learn more about our school. Our webmaster, Mrs. Sue Weber, is working closely with staff and central office personnel to develop a site that is helpful to all members of our school community. Please revisit this site often as it continues to grow. You can also refer to the Family Handbook for additional information. Monthly, the Griswold Gazette will be sent home with dates for upcoming school events. Of course, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call the school.
Griswold School is a place where we work together with families to help each student learn and develop. Our school goal for the 2008 – 2009 school year again focuses on literacy:
The percentage of students who will meet the DRA-2 benchmark will increase by 10% at each grade level from fall to spring. The focus of our reading instruction will be on improving comprehension and developing responses to open-ended questions.
We hope that you are able to join us at Parents Club meetings, UpBeat nights, Family Nights and other school events. The partnership that exists between home and school results in a positive learning experience for your children.
Have a wonderful school year! Sincerely,
Laurie A. Gjerpen Eric E. Carbone Principal Assistant Principal
