Message from Ms. Gjerpen

August 2010

Dear Griswold School Families,

We plan to continue our efforts to communicate with you electronically via the Griswold School website.  This website is designed to give you information about our school and provide links to important documents and websites.  It also serves as a liaison with the Parents Club as they continue to support the school’s efforts.

The Parents Club is our parent organization that supports the school through funding many trips and programs.  Additionally, it runs the Eagle Publishing Center, the School Store and two Book Fairs each year.  They also host many Family Nights to bring students and their families into the school to take part in a variety of fun evenings!

The Griswold Gazette, our monthly newsletter, will be posted in its entirety on the website.  Additionally, it will be emailed home to families using the email address that you provide us at the beginning of the school year.  If you change your email address, please update it with the school office so you will remain informed of upcoming events.

It is so important to have a strong connection between the home and school. Join the Parents Club, attend a meeting, work on the UpBeat Team or volunteer in the school.  Your children will appreciate all that you do – as will the staff.  Your support allows us to enrich your child’s elementary experience.

Each year the staff analyzes student performance data and chooses a focus area for our school goal.  Teachers work in teams to find ways to improve student learning.  They collaborate to design units that will meet the individual needs of the students.

We will also continue to work on the implementation of SRBI.  Through this, staff targets the needs of individual students and provides appropriate interventions.  They also monitor student progress carefully.  The purpose of this is to make certain all students’ needs are being met.

As you know, Mr. Strickland has joined the administrative team at Griswold.  He was the smart choice to continue to work with all of us in the best interest of our children.  We look forward to working closely with you to help each child succeed.

Sincerely yours,
