Message from Ms. Gjerpen

August 2009 Dear Griswold School Families, Thank you for taking the time to stop by our website. Our webmaster is Mrs. Weber. She is working with the webmasters at the other schools to develop an easy-to-use site that will provide information to you quickly and effieciently. Please visit it often to get updates on happenings at the school and with our Parents Club. This website is designed to give you more information about our school and our Parents Club. It also has important links to the Family Handbook and Parents Club information. Additionally, it can redirect you the district website, www.berlinschools.org. In the effort to “go green”, The Griswold Gazette, our monthly newsletter, is posted in its entirety on the website. Please take the time to check this out at the beginning of each month. In addition to school news, it will also communicate any family night information and sign-ups. You will get a monthly reminder letting you know what will be included in that month’s Gazette. As part of our continuous improvement process, each August the staff examines student perfomance data and selects a goal for focus during the next school year. Our professional development then revolves around this. The teachers use their common planning during the week, staff meetings and early release days to enhance instruction to improve student learning. It is a team approach! As you know, a strong home/school partnership is essential for a succesful school. We hope that you are able to come in to volunteer in classrooms, join us for a Parents Club or UpBeat meeting, type some books for the Eagle Publishing Center or work in the library. Although the staff appreciates your input, there is nothing more special than a child’s smile upon seeing a parent helping out during the school day. Perhaps you can also take part in one of our fundraisers to get more equipment and programs for the school. Your support allows us to enhance your child’s experiences at Griswold.
