Emma Hart Willard |
In the year of 1787, a baby girl was born in Berlin, Connecticut. Her name was Emma Hart. She was the sixteenth of seventeen children. At college age, she attended Berlin Academy. In 1809, she married Dr. Willard. They were happily married until his death in 1825. She was deeply ivolved in giving women good educations. In 1840, she was elected superintendent of Common Schools of Kensington. The schools in Kensington became model schools for the entire country. Mrs. Willard passed away in 1870. She was a great woman. In fact, she was inducted into the American Hall of Fame in 1905.
